How to answer: "Why didn't you...?"

In English, a good excuse has three parts: The desire, the obstacle, and the result.

❤️ WANTED TO
Your desire

⛓️ HAD TO
The obligation

❌ COULDN'T
The negative result

WANTED TO: Expresses something you desired to do, but it was impossible. (I wanted to go to the party...)
HAD TO: Expresses a strong necessity or obligation in the past. (...but I had to study for a test...)
COULDN'T: The negative of "could". It expresses a lack of ability or possibility. (...so I couldn't go.)
