How to Build the Perfect Paragraph

🥪 Warm-Up: The Weirdest Sandwich

An essay is just a giant sandwich. Let's make a terrible one!

Instructions: Shout out 3 random, disgusting ingredients. The teacher will type them in. Would you eat this?

👟 An old shoe
🐙 A live octopus

Just like a sandwich needs bread to hold the crazy ingredients together, a paragraph needs a Topic Sentence to hold the crazy ideas together!

1. Topic Sentence
Oración Principal
The first sentence. It tells the reader exactly what the paragraph is about.
2. Explanation
Explicación
Tells the same idea in different words so everyone understands.
3. Supporting Details

Concrete examples, facts, or statistics from real life.

🍔 Grammar Core: The Paragraph Burger

Without these 3 parts, your paragraph will fall apart.
1. TOPIC SENTENCE (The Bread)

Introduces the main idea. Ex: "Video games are good for your brain."

2. EXPLANATION (The Sauce & Lettuce)

Explains what you mean. Ex: "In other words, they train your mind to think fast."

3. SUPPORTING DETAILS (The Meat)

Real examples or facts. Ex: "For example, a study showed they improve reflexes."

4. CONCLUSION (The Bottom Bread)

Closes the idea. Ex: "Therefore, gaming is a great mental exercise."

For example, a recent scientific study showed that action games improve hand-eye coordination and quick decision-making in teenagers. Therefore, playing games in moderation is a great mental exercise.
