🧩 Grammar Core: Life Experiences

How do we talk about the things we have done in our lives?

We use the Present Perfect to talk about experiences. It doesn’t matter when it happened, it only matters if you had the experience in your life up to now.

Subject + HAVE / HAS + Past Participle

EVER
(Alguna vez)

We use EVER only in Questions.
It means "at least one time in your life".

"Have you ever burned your dinner?"

NEVER
(Nunca)

We use NEVER in Affirmative sentences to give them a negative meaning (0 times).

"I have never traveled to Japan."

🗣️ Michigan Pronunciation Tip: Contractions
Native speakers rarely say "I have never". They contract the subject and the auxiliary.
I have ➡️ I've (/aiv/).
She has ➡️ She's (/shiz/).
"I've never seen that movie."

Example:

B: "Yes, I have!"
A: "Wow! Where did you go?" (Notice how we switch to Simple Past for details!)
