🔬 Grammar Core: The First Conditional

How to express real possibilities and consequences.

The First Conditional (or Real Conditional) is used to talk about things that will probably happen in the future if a specific condition is met.

The Golden Formula:

IF + Subject + Present Simple, Subject + WILL + Base Verb
  • If you wear these glasses, you will see very well.
  • If she doesn't rest, she won't heal.
🔄 The Switch Rule:
You can flip the sentence! But if you put the IF in the middle, you must DELETE the comma.

✔️ If you take these pills, you will feel better.
✔️ You will feel better if you take these pills.

📝 Practice 1: Diagnosis Test

Level 1 (Easy): Select the correct verb tense to complete the conditional.

Work in pairs (Zoom Rooms). One is the Doctor, the other is the Patient.

🤕 Role A: The Patient

You arrive at the ER with a crazy problem. Explain your symptoms.

  • "Doctor, I have a terrible headache."
  • "I think I broke my arm!"

👨‍⚕️ Role B: The Doctor

Listen to the patient and give them conditions using IF.

  • "If you take these pills, you will sleep better."
  • "If you don't rest, your arm won't heal."
