We use as . . . as to compare two things, people, or animals that are equal or alike in some way.
These are Tim and Tom. They are very good friends. Tim is wearing a red shirt and Tom is wearing a yellow shirt.
Tom is as tall as Tim. Tim is as old as Tom. They’re both 24.
But Tim isn’t as thin as Tom. Tom is thinner.
Tim swims as fast as Tom, and Tom runs as fast as Tim.
Tim is as strong as Tom. They’ve always liked to compete against each other, but nobody ever wins because they are exactly the same!
